WElcome

It has occurred to us along our journey that everyone has a unique and interesting story to tell. We wanted to take the time to capture and collect some snippets from our journey and put them in one spot not only for ourselves, but for other people who might find what we do interesting. We are still experimenting with our content, but we we are thankful for your interest in our adventures, companies, thoughts, ramblings, etc. If you want updates as we have them, feel free to sign up for our mailing list. In the meantime, Feel free to take a look around and see what we’ve got going on!

A&A S1:E1 Entrepreneurship as Marriage Counseling

How we met and decided that it would be a good idea to date, while starting a business together.

A&A S1:E2 Same Name Struggle

We talk about what it's like working together while having the same name and how (girl) Alex experiences gender bias as a black female founder.

A&A S1:E3 I'm not his assistant: Dealing with Racial/Gender Bias

We started three companies together but aren't always treated equally. Join us as we dive into what it's like starting a business with your significant other and having two very different experiences, depending on your race or gender.

A&A S1:E4 Overcoming Implicit Bias

The bias we impose on others acts as a way of keeping people out, often to our own detriment. We talk about different ways to deal with implicit bias, not giving in to it's pressure, and how we hope to help students in our South Bend Code School programs handle implicit bias in the future.

A&A S1:E5 Why Start a Business?

Entrepreneurship can be tough (example: making payroll, finding a team, etc). We have found that there are a lot of aspects of entrepreneurship that align well with us and the work we are passionate about.

A&A S1:E6 Prioritizing Your Partner in a Busy Work Environment

The workplace can be a breeding ground for conflict. There's a lot of different moving pieces (ex. employees, time constraints, differing work habits etc.). You don't always have the "time" to talk and make decisions together. Being in the fast paced environment of launching and running 3 companies forced us to find techniques to better communicate.
